Our beloved mother, Veronica “Dolly” DiFilippo, was welcomed into heaven on June 20, 2026. She was the daughter of Walter and Veronica (Pastecki) Szczesny. Dolly’s life was centered around her family and her deep Catholic faith—two loves that guided her throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas; her parents; and her siblings and their spouses: Walter and Rose Szczesny, Joseph and Antoinette Szczesny, Helena and Joseph Fortunato, and Monica and Philip Fiorella.
Dolly is survived by her children: Patricia (David) Pero, Carol Jean DiFilippo, Fran (Fran) Mruczek, Mary Jo (Tim) Buckley, Nicholas (Lynn Sepor) DiFilippo, and Michael (Laurie) DiFilippo.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to David Pero, Jeffrey Pero, Gina Pero (David Stella), Katie Buckley, Nicole (Marc) Cohen, Jenna (Matt) DiMartino, Nicholas DiFilippo, Michael DiFilippo, and Madison DiFilippo; and a cherished great-grandmother to Dawson, Jayce, and Harper Pero; Serafina and Alexander Cohen; and Stella and Milli DiMartino.
She also leaves behind her brother-in-law, Robert Darch; sister-in-law, Susan DiFilippo; and many nieces and nephews.
Dolly will be remembered by many for the active role she played in her community. She spent many years as president of Sacred Heart’s Altar and Rosary Society and volunteered on the Bereavement Committee. She was a past president of the Polish Falconettes and made many pilgrimages to Saint Anne de Beaupré in Quebec, Canada. She enjoyed knitting for her family and traveling to Atlantic City, Florida, Muskoka Lake, and wherever the New York Yankees were playing.
Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Gilmartin Funeral Home 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, NY 14020. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by her nephew, the Reverend Father Walter Szczesny, at 10:00AM on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Ascension Parish 19 Summer Street in Batavia.
