Thomas Hans Rittmeyer

Thomas Hans Rittmeyer of Byron, N.Y. was born on January 7, 1948 in Mannendorf, Switzerland, the son of Dr. Fritz and Verena (Pestalozzi) Rittmeyer. After receiving his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technicum at Winterthur, Switzerland, he came to the U.S, in 1973, and worked in the machining industry in Rochester for over 30 years. He and Deborah Gleason were married on October 7, 1978. He became a U.S. citizen on Oct. 6, 1994. Tom and Deb enjoyed traveling, visiting 49 states, many Canadian provinces, and several European countries. He was also interested in hiking, sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, and geocaching. He passed away in Batavia, NY on February 12, 2026. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Peter, and son Emil Thomas. He is survived by his widow, daughter Ellen (Matt) Hendershott, son Eric, grandchildren Jeremy, Gavin and Oliver, brother Andreas (Ruby) and sister Hanni (Bouya Diakhate), sister in law Anne (Michael) Foster and brother in law Richard (Susan) Gleason, and several nieces and nephews.
