Robert M. "Goody" Goodsell

Robert M. Goodsell, 75, of Batavia passed away on Tuesday July 15, 2025 at Unity Hospital. He was born in Batavia on October 15, 1949 to the late Michael and Frances (Ziolkowski) Goodsell. In addition to his parents, Goody is predeceased by a son; Tyler Goodsell; brother Leonard Goodsell.

He is survived by his beloved wife; Maureen (Holland) Goodsell; sons Zachary (Megan) Goodsell of Batavia and Dylan (Bailea) Goodsell of Perinton; sister Carole Wiegers of Greece, NY and sister in law Joyce Goodsell of Ithaca; a granddaughter Shea Goodsell, along with several nieces and nephews.

To his friends and family Goody will be remembered as someone who loved to laugh, his affection for pranks and practical jokes are enshrined in the memories of everyone he knew. His outgoing personality allowed him to relate anyone and everyone, making “new friends” wherever he went.

Goody loved the Yankees, Browns and Celtics. His fondness for competition also led him to a love of horse racing and handicapping. His early adult years were spent working at the YMCA and Y camp at Silver Lake, where he spent time as a Counselor, referee and a remarkable racquetball player.

His professional career was marked by his dedication to helping those in need in the community. He worked for 32 years in different roles at Genesee County Social Services.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday July 20, 2025 from 2:00-5:00PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home 329-333 West Main St. Batavia, NY 14020. A 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday the 21st at Resurrection Parish 303 E. Main St. in Batavia. Goody will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
