Phyllis J. Caccamise, age 84, affectionately known as “Ma” to nearly everyone who met her, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of December 12, 2025. Her faithful dog, Charlie, and her ever independent yet disdainful cat, Ginger, were by her side, offering comfort in her final moments.
Born on October 4, 1941, in Rochester, NY, Phyllis is predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael A. Caccamise. Married in 1967, “Big Mike” passed away in 2004, and not a day went by that she didn’t miss him. She is also predeceased by her parents, Bessie (Licata) Morinelli and George Morinelli, her daughter Dawn Shedarowich, great-granddaughter Nova Caccamise, and sister Clementina (Fred) DelFave.
Phyllis is survived by her devoted children: Michael (Krista) Caccamise, Vicki (Andrew) Werner, and (grandson) James Caccamise (Amanda Rickard). Michael, Vicki, and James were the center of her world, and the love we shared with our mom is beyond what words can express. She often reminded her daughter-in-law Krista and son-in-law Andy that they were her favorites—a sentiment that always brought laughter and warmth to our family.
She also leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Chelsey Cratsley (Michael Rosenbeck), Taylor Cratsley (Landon Powers), Zachary (Nina) Cratsley, Elena Werner, and Jenna Werner. Her pride and joy extended to her great-grandchildren: Madison and Anthony Caccamise, Jenson Rosenbeck, Yaritsa, Mia, and Faith Cratsley.Phyllis shared a special bond with her sisters Dian Hart and Georgeann (Mark) Pschierer, laughing at their jokes right up until the end. She was deeply loved by many nieces, nephews, and cousins from the Morinelli, Licata, and Caccamise families, who always made her feel special. Her honorary son, Tom Roth, stood by her side, offering comfort and strength through the toughest days.
Phyllis had a gift for opening her home and her heart to everyone. She became “Ma” to so many, welcoming friends and family with a warm smile, a listening ear, and a fresh pot of coffee. Her home was a place of laughter, stories, and love—a true haven for all who entered. The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered love and support in recent months, and to the Genesee County Home Care and Hospice team. Your care allowed Phyllis to remain in the home she loved, surrounded by family, until her peaceful passing. Her love and laughter will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
