Paul A. Marone, 92 of Batavia, passed away on Saturday October 25, 2014 peacefully at his home. He was born on April 16, 1922 in Newark, New York to the late Emil (Rose Van Detta) Marone. He is preceded in death by brothers Dominic and Emil Jr.; sisters Concetta Merritt-White, Marie Rollins-Starling and Angeline Marone. Mr. Marone was a proud WWII Army Air Corp Veteran. He was the first Registered Pharmacist at Genesee Memorial Hospital serving the hospital for 30 years. He also worked part time at Dean’s Drug Store, and in 2009 retired from Burling Drug, Corfu. He was an avid tennis player and won some local tournaments in years past. Mr. Marone was a member of Resurrection Parish. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Esther (Burk) Marone of Batavia; children Pamela (John) Notebaert of Bloomfield; David (Regina) Marone of Brimley, MI; Margaret “Peggy” Marone of Batavia; brother John (Jane) Marone of Lancaster; sister Geraldine Rowcliffe of Brooksville, FL; 7 grandchildren Danielle (Thomas Feeley) Notebaert M.D., Andrew (Angela) Notebaert, Brigid (Steve) Heiny, David (Shannon) Marone Jr., Daniel Marone, Kathleen Marone, Nikole Marone; 12 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call on Wednesday October 29, 2014 from 2-4 and 7 -9 PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. A 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday October 30, 2014 at Resurrection Parish 18 Ellicott St. Batavia, New York 14020.
