Maragret Susan (Fox) Ferringer

Margaret Susan Fox Ferringer, better known as Sue Ferringer, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at age 77.

Sue was raised in North Tonawanda, NY, where she graduated from high school as one of the “Chicks of ‘66.” Although educated in nursing, Sue later discovered her true calling as a teacher. After years of volunteering as the parent representative on the Batavia City School DistrictCommittee on Special Education, serving with the school’s Parent Teacher Associationand the Genesee Memorial Hospital League, working in support roles and as a substitute teacher at GVEP BOCES, and contributing to countless other committees, she decided to return to school. She earned her associates degree from Genesee Community College, transferred to SUNY Geneseo to complete her bachelor’s degree, and went on to receive her master’s degree from SUNY Buffalo, receiving honors at each school, all while raising two teenage children, supporting her husband, and managing their household. Sue retired from Edison Technology High School in Rochester, NY, as a high school special education teacher, where she devoted her career to enriching the lives of her students. Teaching was more than a profession for her; it was a passion and her purpose. Even after retirement, she continued to advocate tirelessly for individuals with special needs and disabilities.

Sue was preceded in death by her father, Norman Fox and her mother, Jean Zimmerman Fox, who later married William Archer. Sue is survived by her forever dedicated and loving husband, John; her son, John-Paul; daughter, Tammi; her granddaughter, Jacelyn; her grandson, Caleb Henning; her siblings; nieces and nephews; many wonderful friends; and her “bonus” children whom she welcomed into her home and heart as her own.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours or Funeral Services. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
