Judy Ann Chapell, 80, of Oakfield passed away on May 5, 2022 at her home on Maple Ave. She was born on April 7, 1942 in Batavia, the daughter of the late Erwin “Curley” and A. Muriel (Jenkins) Chapell. In addition to her parents, Judy is predeceased by her siblings Erwin Chapell, Linda Chapell, Nancy Dersam, Jeanette (Richard) Moore, Roger (Carol) Kirkpatrick; brothers in law Oscar Kessler and Dayton Schultz Sr. Judy was active in the Premier Genesee Day Program. They would do crafts and eat lunch together. She enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and watching Westerns on T.V. Judy’s greatest love was going to Batavia Muckdogs Baseball games, and she loved singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”. Judy was loved by all the staff and residents where she lived and she loved them all back. She is survived by her sisters; Carolyn Schultz and Norma Kessler; sister in law Carol Kirkpatrick, along with many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call on Thursday May 12, 2022 from 10:00-11:00AM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street, Batavia, New York 14020. An 11:00AM Funeral Service will be held immediately following the visitation at the Funeral Home. Judy will be laid to rest in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Elba. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for the purchase of a tree to be planted in Judy’s memory at the group home where she lived.
