Celebrating a beautiful life, it’s with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Jean Catherine Townsend Brezinsky on November 18th, 2025 4:43 PM at the age of 75. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, friend, and dog mom.
Born in Penn Yan, New York on February 15, 1950, daughter of the late John and Polly Townsend. She attended school in Penn Yan, graduating in 1968 with honors. Jean married her high school sweetheart, John James on August 21st, 1971. After graduating college from ECC, she worked as a medical office assistant in Batavia, NY, from 1970-2010.
Outside of work, her passions were family, grandchildren, hosting holidays, baking (especially nuts and bolts) Keuka Lake, Penn Yan, church, shopping, Buffalo Bills and volunteering at Genesee Senior Center with her dog Goldie.
Jeanie was known to be caring, kind and thoughtful. We will always remember her for her unconditional love, her smile, and her positive attitude.
Jean is survived by her husband of 54 years, John J Brezinsky. Mother to Kate Hixon (Sam), Timothy John Brezinsky, Joe B (Gretchen), Grandmother to Mia Hixon, Alia Brezinsky, Naia Brezinsky, Nora Brezinsky, Sister to Barbara VanDine, Margret “Peg” Townsend, Aunt to Dan VanDine (Michelle), Lori, Bonnie, Julie, Maggie, Taylor, and Jack.
Holidays will not be the same without her thoughtful touches and how she always made our house a home. We will do our best to keep her traditions alive as we enter the holiday season. We now have the best guardian angel, and we look forward to seeing a cardinal. Jean B. will be deeply missed.
In death, she is reunited with her Mother, Father, Aunt Cookie and all her doggies (Abby, Cow B(Murphy), Bailey, Chloe, Riley, Penny, Goldie, along with her grand dogs (Maggs and Stanley).
