Francis Gene Marchese, age 85, of Batavia, NY, passed away on August 28, 2026. He was born on June 10, 1941, in Batavia, NY, the son of the late Joseph and Rose C. Marchese.
He is survived by his sons, Paul (Sandra) Marchese and Robert (Melayne) Marchese; his grandsons, Joseph (Fiancée Denice) Marchese and Michael Marchese; and his brother, Victor (Brenda) Marchese. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan K. Marchese; his parents Joseph and Rose C. Marchese; and his sister, Joanne M. Monachino. Francis also has brother and sister-in-laws, many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones who have been an important part of his life.
Francis, or "Pop Pop" as his grandchildren called him, dedicated his life to spreading joy and serving his community. He worked as an exceptional CPA up until the year he passed, though those who knew him well knew he would say he never truly worked a day in his life because he loved what he did.
Francis was also a devoted member of the Batavia Rotary Club, where he volunteered tirelessly for causes that made Batavia a better place. He cherished cooking at the Father's Day Fly-In Breakfast, especially when he worked the griddle alongside his son Paul and grandsons, Joseph and Michael - three generations of Marchese men serving side by side.
A lifelong Bills, Yankees, and Notre Dame fan, Francis was always happy to talk about his teams. He took great pride in carrying on the Bills season tickets his own father, Joseph, had started, and was happy to see that tradition continue on through his son Paul and grandsons Joseph and Michael.
Francis enjoyed travel and time with family and friends. One of his favorite mottos was that life is about making memories. Thank you Dad and Pop Pop for all the memories. We love you!
