Eunice Lew

Eunice Lew, 94, formerly of Byron, died on May 19, 2024 in Leroy.


A lifetime resident of Genesee County, she was born on March 12, 1930 in Batavia, NY, the only child of Ruth Branton Bennett and Ward S. Bennett. Mrs. Lew enjoyed dogs, books and restaurants. She travelled throughout the USA, Canada and Europe.


Mrs. Lew was a retired Registered Nurse having practiced 20 years at St. Jerome Hospital and 20 years at the VA Medical Center in Batavia. She was a life member of the First Presbyterian Church in Batavia, The Gillam Grant Community Center, the Byron Historical Society, Volunteers for Animals and the YMCA.


Mrs. Lew was a past member of the Town of Batavia Fireman Auxiliary, Shakespeare Club, Tonawanda Touring Club, Women of the Moose, Great Books Club, the Seven Springs Country Club, Tonawanda Valley Kennel Club and the Batavia Society of Artists. She graduated from Corfu High School and the St. Jerome School of Nursing. She attended Canisus College and Genesee Community College.


She is predeceased by her husbands; Roger Saile, Bernard Sanders and Chester (Lewandoski) Lew. She and Chet shared fifty wonderful years together.


Surviving is one son; Eric (Janet) Saile of Batavia; a half sister Mary Bennett (Randy) Luplow of TX; three grandchildren Jason (Erin) Saile, Ellen (Gregg) Traver and Sarah (Curt) Saile; great-grandchildren all of Batavia, along with cousins, plus dear friends Laurie, Anita, Frank and Melanie.


There will be no prior calling hours. An 11:00AM Memorial Service will be held on Friday May 24, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church 300 East Main St. in Batavia.
