Elizabeth Ann Duncan Cockman

Elizabeth Ann Duncan Cockman, 71, of Attica, New York, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026. She was born on April 1, 1955, in Batavia. 

Ann lived a life defined by kindness, compassion, and an unwavering love for her family and friends. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome, offering a listening ear, thoughtful advice, and genuine acceptance to anyone who crossed her path. The relationships she built throughout her life reflected her generous heart, free spirit, and the belief that there was always room for one more around her table.

Above all else, Ann cherished family, both the one she was born into and the family she chose along the way. She found her greatest joy in spending time with those she loved, celebrating life and milestones, carrying on treasured traditions and creating memories that will live on for generations. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, unconditional love, and, of course, a fresh pot of coffee that was always ready for anyone who stopped by. Ann embraced life with a lighthearted, whimsical spirit. She saw beauty in simple moments, believed every adventure was worth taking, and had a gentle & hippie soul that valued love, kindness, music, and human connection above all else. She welcomed people exactly as they were and had a gift for making everyone feel like they belonged.

Ann is now reunited with the love of her life, her husband: Rick Cockman. She is survived by her beloved children, Thomas (Keri) Cockman and Brendan (Betty Quezada) Cockman; her cherished granddaughter, Emily Cockman; her brothers, John Duncan (Eileen Sjoberg) and Dan (Carol) Duncan; her sisters, Maggie (Mike Moss) Duncan and Kate (Bill Nisbet) Duncan; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jane Duncan; her husband, Rick Cockman;and her brother, Michael Duncan.Those who knew Ann will remember her for her generosity, her open heart, and the way shemade everyone who entered her home feel like family. She had a lifelong love of music, art, and reading. Her musical tastes were as eclectic as she was—ranging from opera to whatever new favorite songs her sons introduced her to. She loved meaningful conversations, spontaneous adventures, and simply being with the people she loved. Her legacy lives on not only in the lives she touched but in the compassion, joy, and unconditional love she shared so freely with others.The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped Ann throughout her daily life, especially the Conklin family of Attica, whose friendship and support meant so much to her.They are also deeply grateful to the many others who stopped by to visit, ran errands, checked in,or simply shared a cup of coffee and companionship. Your kindness brought comfort and joy to Ann and will never be forgotten. 

Though she will be deeply missed, Ann leaves behind a lifetime of love, treasured memories and an enduring example of kindness, acceptance, and living life with an open heart. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
