Charlene “Charlie” Mabon, 61, of Oakfield, NY, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 29, 1964, Charlie lived a life marked by love, joy, and service. She worked at Oakfield Elementary, where she was known for her kindness and devotion to children, before retiring from the NYS Veterans Home, where she took great pride in caring for those who served our country. She also dedicated many years as a Girl Scout leader, remembered for her generosity, joyful spirit, and the countless lives she touched.
Above all else, Charlie’s greatest joy was her family. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were her whole world, and she poured her love into them every single day. She will be remembered most as a devoted wife, a proud mom, and a deeply loving grandma who filled her family’s lives with laughter, warmth, and unwavering support.
Charlie is survived by her devoted husband, Scott; her daughter, Shanda (Michael) Spink; her son, Scotti (Amanda) Mabon; her beloved grandchildren, Amora, Levi, Matteo, and Mandalyn; her mother, Patricia Brown; and her brothers, Timothy (Jamie), Robert, and Chris Brown. She was reunited in heaven with her daughter, Mandy, and her father, Robert Brown.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday October 2nd from 4:00-8:00PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home 329-333 West Main St. Batavia, NY 14020. A Celebration of life will be held on Friday October 3rd from 5:00-8:00PM at Northgate Free Methodist Church 8160 Bank St. Rd. in Batavia. In honor of Charlie’s joyful spirit, the family invites everyone to wear bright, cheerful colors to the service. Black attire is not necessary, as we will gather to celebrate the light and laughter she brought to all of our lives.
