Carol A. Childs

Carol A. Childs, 80, of Batavia, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. She was born July 12, 1940 in Batavia, daughter of the late Joseph (Carmel Cappiello) Messina. She is preceded in death by her husband David Childs in 2008 and a sister Sara Petroline. Carol worked for many years at OTB, she was an industrious and dedicated worker. She loved children, animals and expressed a deep appreciation of nature. Carol was a very caring woman that placed others above herself. She was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her sons Mark and Michael Childs of Batavia, sister Frances (John) Nowak of E. Amherst, along with several nieces and nephews. An 11:00 AM Celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. Carol will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia. The funeral home will be restricted to 50% of their normal capacity. Face coverings and social distancing are mandatory.
