Anthony “Tony” Pecora, Jr., 93, left us on November 2, 2026.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Carol, son Tony (Monique) and daughters Mary Jo Kinsky (Tim), Gina Braun (Julie) and Elizabeth Phillips-Gill along with 7 grandchildren Natalie, Owen, Alec, Christopher, William, Douglas, Aiden) and 7 great-grandchildren; Special recognition to his aide, Trejah Mims, for providing compassionate assistance.
Tony was a consummate sports fan, especially baseball, and a life-long Yankee fan. He supported the local community by sharing his knowledge in managing Batavia Little League Baseball and Batavia Youth Football teams for several years. Following his retirement, Tony continued his love of baseball as a clubhouse manager for the Batavia Muckdogs and working in Florida for several major league baseball teams in spring training.
Tony collected memorabilia working for these teams and donated them to local charities for fund raisers. He was recognized by Notre Dame High School for his dedication to their Sports Boosters as well as a recipient of the prestigious Msgr. David Herlihy Award for Outstanding Service to Notre Dame. The Batavia Muckdogs recognized Tony with their Lifetime Achievement Award for Service to Professional Baseball. Tony was also the proud recipient of the Outstanding Italian-American Award from the Paolo Busti Cultural Foundation of Genesee County in 2014.
Tony always believed in helping others and for the past 20 years, he was a familiar figure at Tops Market during the holiday season as a bell-ringer for the Salvation Army. “Everyone can do something” was a lifetime motto of Mr. Pecora. Tony’s generosity, kindness, and devotion to family and friends will be profoundly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be scheduled soon at Resurrection Parish and a Celebration of Life for Tony Pecora will be held in the spring of 2027.
