Alfonso "Al" J. Miconi

Alfonso "Al" J. Miconi, 92, of Batavia, New York, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. Born the son of Angelo and Catherine (Attardi) Miconi, Al spent his life as a man of quiet strength and unshakable character; the kind of person who made everyone around him feel steadier simply by being in the room.

Al built a distinguished career at Graham Corporation in Batavia, where he served as Manager of Purchasing for nearly four decades, from 1958 to 1997. His colleagues knew him as someone whose word was his bond: dependable, principled, and deeply respected. His quiet but commanding presence left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

A devout Catholic, Al's faith was the compass by which he lived. He was a passionate golfer, a loyal Yankees and Bills fan through every season, and a man who found genuine joy in the simple pleasures of life. His kitchen was his cathedral. He made his pasta from scratch, pressed his own wine, and operated under one unbreakable rule: nobody left his house hungry. To share a meal with Al was to know you were loved.

Al's greatest joy was his grandchildren. He was a constant presence in their lives; always available, always interested, always there. To grow up with Al as your grandfather was to grow up knowing exactly what unconditional love looked like.

Al was preceded in death by the light of his life, his beloved wife, Patricia (Viele) Miconi; whom he spent 40 blissful years of marriage with before her passing in 1997. Also preceding are his parents, Angelo and Catherine; his sister, Monica Raphael; his brothers, Frank, Eugene, and Edmond Miconi; his in-laws, Anthony (Lefty) and Helen Viele; and his dear sister-in-law, Linda (Viele) Allen.

He is survived by his daughter, Maryann Haigh (Gary); his son, Michael Miconi (Karen); his grandchildren, Jesse Justina Kowalski, Ryan Haigh (Cassie Shearer), Christopher Haigh (Abigail), and Angelina Miconi (Josh Dykstra); his great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Nathaniel, and Levi, with another great-grandchild on the way; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
